Durres - Jeep Adventure to Shtame Pass National Park, Bovilla Lake & Kruja

If you would like to discover Albania’s wild and mountainous side, this excursion is the perfect choice. Expect a day filled with spectacular landscapes, off-road jeep adventure and a visit to one of the country’s most historic towns. It is an ideal experience for nature lovers, adventure seekers and anyone interested in Albanian culture.

The excursion begins with a morning hotel pick-up, after which you will set off directly by off-road jeeps towards Qafë Shtamë National Park. The journey itself is part of the adventure - winding mountain roads, steep slopes and breathtaking scenery will accompany you throughout the route.

Along the way, you will stop at a viewpoint overlooking Bovilla Lake, famous for its intense turquoise waters surrounded by mountains. It is the perfect place for photos and a short break while admiring the scenery. The route also passes through small Albanian villages, where daily life still moves at a peaceful pace far away from mass tourism.

Next, you will arrive in Kruja, one of Albania’s most important historic towns, dating back to the 3rd century BC. Walking through the traditional bazaar, you will discover local handicrafts, carpets, ceramics and regional spices while enjoying the authentic atmosphere of the town. There will also be free time for lunch at your own expense.

If you wish, you can independently visit Kruja Castle, also known as the Skanderbeg Citadel. Built in the 5th-6th century, the fortress became the headquarters of Albania’s national hero, Skanderbeg, who led the resistance against the Ottoman Empire from this very place. Today, the castle houses a museum dedicated to his history.

After a day full of mountain scenery, history and off-road adventure, you will return to Durres by jeep.
