Program Description
A visit to the Solés Anchovy Factory-Museum in L'Escala is a chance to learn more about one of the most distinctive flavours of Catalan cuisine. This family-run business has been operating since 1888 and today gives visitors an insight into the traditional production of anchovies.
During the visit, you will learn about the salting and curing process, which gives anchovies their characteristic, intense flavour. You will see the different stages involved in preparing a product that has long played an important role in local cuisine and is also used in dishes around the world.
A visit to the Solés Anchovy Factory-Museum will also introduce you to the history of the family business and the traditions of fish processing in L'Escala. You will see how knowledge passed down through generations is combined with modern production methods.
The visit concludes with an anchovy tasting, giving you the opportunity to try the finished product and experience one of the region's best-known culinary specialities.
